while his narcissism has been very clear for a very long time not everyone understands that the words that come out of a narcissist’s mouth are simply their representation of the world, designed to protect their fragile, useless self. This man did as so many of his ilk do - prey on the vulnerabilities of others while making promises they are either unable or unwilling to keep.
their promises are part of the fantasy life they live in. Their promises are part of the shape shifting self they have created suited to the particular situation they are in. they make stuff up to the extent it supports them and because they are already so self deceptive they can do it without blinking and without the slightest shadow of doubt. The more they say it - and they do - the more convinced they are the more convincing they become to others
Typically when failure occurs, as it often eventually does when the trance is ended for those they have lied to, fooled and cheated , they simply move on and find another venture, another set of people to charm and abuse and another person they pretend to be.
so here’s the rub I see. let’s assume that the events of this week have shown at least some that Trump is an unhinged doorway into a bleak hellhole
but others still believe he provides the pathway out of hell (the person who is saving us from devil worshipping pedophiles).
the extent to which that latter group sustains their fight for him will shape trumps next phase, depending however on whether the crisis his ego is currently experiencing can be amped up.
the latter matters if the dust is to settle. It is not about removing him, or impeaching him. It’s about how to making the crisis so serious that he runs. That could include making him invisible and irrelevant (the opposite of what he craves). At present he remains, in his own head, successful and popular, the best first term president ever.
