the margin of error on the ABS sample is 60 000 people so their monthly number is useless other than showing an accelerating trend higher.
crossing 8% unemployment is when the recession will become obvious to most. people seeing shops close down, the for lease signs going up, hearing from friends and family they lost a job of know people who did. and the media reporting on it even more than they are atm
