captainblood - screening a plane of 336 passengers in 1 hr even with 7 readers is conveniently forgetting about the 82 + hours of development time required for the tests to produce a result. In its present form the test will have to be supervised by some medical person. I still can't fathom the logistics which will allow this to happen in such a way that the degree of "normality" we yearn for is attainable. There is no doubt in my mind that the biggest plus of the ADO test has is its projected sensitivity, hopefully soon to be validated by a globally recognised institution. It should be able to play a huge role on the frontline itself not on the fringes to help airlines fly or crowds to safely attend sport (important as that may be). Unlike some others who have posted here and although I have serious concerns on the role of big pharma in some aspects of medical research , I believe that PCR testing is the gold standard because it is recognised as the most accurate. However the door is wide open to a test which is maybe almost as accurate, is much, much faster and a heck of a lot cheaper!! All IMHO.
