Thanks both of you. I have heard of some old small-scale gold mining in the area around the base of Mt. Silay and adjacent Mt. Mandalagan. None of it was particularly lucrative, but with modern equipment in the right spot who knows. Sagay locals are not keen on mining at all. There is an active environmental legion of young people always looking for a reason to protest. The Church in the area, like much of the Philippines, is not keen on mining either and makes its views known loudly. The other annoyance in that part of the island, is the NPA remnants (just a few small 'leftist' criminal gangs hiding out in the mountains - their hobby is extortion). Add the usual local levels of corruption, and CLA would have plenty of work to do - just to survive. Hope the drill results are good though, and they are up to the challenge. I'll be keeping an eye on this one.
