Holders drooling over the prospect of large and early dividends need to take a deep breath.

The demerger booklet FAQ section says:

"The first dividend by Deterra is expected to be paid for the period ending in 31 December 2020 which reflects the revenue of Deterra from 1 October 2020 net of tax for that period and costs incurred from implementation of the Demerger, including the one-off transaction costs of the Demerger payable by Deterra as set out in Section 2.9.6."

So. three months earnings, not six. Sure, DRR will pay out all net profits. Whether it is unfranked, partly franked of fully franked will depend on the timing of tax payments. DRR was born without a franking account balance.

IO prices in the period were stellar, though cash received would refer to sales in earlier months.

So, big profits directly ahead for DRR, just not yet.
