If fact there are six senses, the mind being the sixth sense. The mind is the sense organ that knows its own creations, namely, feelings, perceptions, thoughts, images and other mental creations.

At night we sleep. The mind concocts all sorts of imagery and dreamery.

Now many religious people attach all sorts of importance to various mental phenomena. This is because they lack the capacity to let go and see all things, including mental phenomena and sublime peaceful or blissful feelings, merely for what they are, namely, natural phenomena.

For example, certain human beings will attend a lecture or read about reincarnation. Then that night they will have a dream they were Joan of Arc, Helen of Troy or Alexander the Great. They will think: "I was Helen of Troy in my past life".

The way to identify those with tendencies to attach to things is how strong there "I ams" are in their statement.

Be careful of the one's with the BIG "I am".

The less "I am", the better.
