Information sent to warehouse sent to robots for picking sent to transport for delivery. The backbone of the system will be a high bandwidth connection. Telecommunications will be vital to automation. For electric cars I can see a scenario where all cars require a additional sim car to be able to talk to each other as well as send information to government so they can charge the road toll for km travelled.
