Some have commented that Botanix is a dermatology company, which was correct until last year when BOT changed its description to a clinical stage synthetic cannabinoid pharmaceutical company. A change that led to a number of us suspecting that BOT was looking to advance their research into
treating bacterial infections beyond dermatological treatments.

Today’s research publication IMO, is a clarification of what some of us have guessed has been happening behind the scenes. For me BOT is more than confident about their dermatological potential in gram positive bacteria and are looking towards the holy grail of oral administration.

Today’s research release by Dr Blaskovich indicates that synthetic CBD can be structurally altered and remain effective against bacteria such as MRSA. They are now also aware that by structurally altering CBD they can kill some gram negative bacteria- something CBD has not been previously been able to achieve. They also believe there is potential to alter CBD to become a selective anti bacterial thereby not killing off the body’s good bacteria.

This is potentially huge, Nobel Prize stuff if they can find a way to administer CDB systemically without the body inactivating it. From what I can understand, more than 94% of CBD binds to the bodies serum and becomes inactive. Through this study they have gained significant insight into what structural changes impact CBD’s effectiveness as an antibiotic. With this new found knowledge they can move forward and play around with its structure so to reduce the rate at which CBD binds to the body’s serum and thereby increase it’s systemic antibacterial effectiveness when ingested.

IMO, we are on a dermatology winner $$. We are now at the early stages of Nobel Prize stuff, absolute pie in the sky still but if the pull it off....
