They are making this up as they go....following the data as it comes out. Trial and error. Novavax seems promising in that early signs are that it actually reduces transmission as well as disease severity, which is more than the mRNA ones and AstraZeneca are able to do so far. Most vaccines are improved for years/decades after phase III allows roll out, so we all have to be patient. I think Australia isn't keen to open borders broadly until we have a vaccine widely distributed that also reduces transmission. The more I read from different sources and try to integrate/digest the information, the more it seems that having antibodies isn't enough to allow travel whether this is from prior infection or vaccine at the moment. We need to wait on the data about transmissibility of the virus with various vaccination programmes. We're definitely in this for the long haul!
