Free carry is an illusion
All you are doing is playing with numbers
What really counts is the REAL realised profit
Saying I bought 1000 @ $1
The price doubled to $2
So I sold 500 at $2 so my other 500 are "free' is simply disillusional
So the 500 sold have a cost base of $1,000
I would love to see the tax man accept that
As a tax accountant I LOVE playing with numbers, but some of the postings on HC baffle me
