Just not sure if you understand RIC's setup where the seaweed model fits in. RIC needs high vol / low cost, predicatable sales to cover and replenish the fixed capital base. The seaweed adventure requires taking risk on production, transportation, processing and delivery of "weed" to the animal alongside or instead of RIC products. Nobody has done this before at the scale being discussed hence it's really R&D stuff for the next 4-5 years. A bit like the prawn setup this will be trial and error. Does that sound like something that RIC should charge into?. Definitely not SP accretive at this point in time. RIC needs to use it's relationship with the farmer (like GNC intends to) while someone else takes risk on production of weed to a specification. BTW no animals RIC currently serves have tried this product yet and they may spit it out after all the effort...
Don't want to be debbie downer but there's a whole piece to be done here before anyone gets paid year on year out for weed - and you may be better off not being the guy on the hook for anything but delivering or trading the weed. Be careful what you see as upside.. Further, there are alternative (biologicals / innoculants) that may be far more practical for ruminants that would suit RIC in terms of complement far better.
