It's true in the fact that you no longer require phone lines in your house, but a base station hooked to cable is still required.
This is why apartments are so desireable, one base connection for 100 users, no cabling of individual apartments required.

Not really, it's mainly contractors that install land lines into your home.
Telstra has a deal with SKG as the broadband provider in all high rise buildings.
So they are happy for SKG to expand.
