Smooth, it's an easy question alright with no easy, simple explanation , here goes anyway.
Market cap changes with the blink of an eye, therefor I consider mc to be totally irrelevant other than the time it takes to blink an eye. Now, given that anyone can buy/sell shares within the time that it takes to blink an eye; that how relevant mc is,imo.
