Update:Flash flooding and landslides were reported in the city of Florianópolis, Santa Catarina state, Brazil, after heavy rainfall on 21 January, 2021. Damage to homes prompted evacuations. Roads have been blocked, disrupting transport in some parts of the city. No injuries or fatalities were reported as of early 22 January.

More than 250mm of rain in 24 hours caused flooding in parts of the state of São Paulo, southeastern Brazil.

The state’s Civil Defence reported that flooding and landslides struck in the city of Peruíbe on 19 January, 2021, causing damage to roads and infrastructure. No fatalities or injuries were reported.
Flooding also affected the municipality of Sete Barras, damaging around 100 homes, State Civil Defense said. Relief items, including mattresses and blankets, have ben distributed to affected residents.
A few days earlier, flooding struck in northern parts of the city of São Paulo, causing material damages in the districts of Pirituba, Mandaqui and Vila Zatt on 14 January, 2021. The Fire Department used boats to rescue people stranded in the flood waters.
Heavy rainfall was also registered in Minas Gerais during this time. On 14 January, State Civil Defence supplied relief items to flood-hit communities in the municipalities of Barbacena, Pequeri and Maria da Fé. Powerful flash floods on 15 January dragged along vehicles in Belo Horizonte.
