I was actually wrong as well. I thought the Govt would extend the full grant to continue to prop up the market. Just goes to show how well the labour govt have been in managing our economic finances since they have been in power, but thats typical of a labour govt to run-up huge deficits. All will become clearer when they present the budget.
The boost did what it was intended to do, to artifically stimulate demand within the housing market as FHOB's look to enter the market and those ex FHOB's look to upgrade their homes by selling to FHOB's.
If the government is going to continue to allocate money to the housing market then it needs to focus on providing low cost housing for underprivilagedged people. This not only ensures that housing becomes more affordable (increase in supply) but it also creates job's within the constuction industry.
Im all for this, bring it on. Property prices within the lower priced brackets may finally go where they were intended to go all along, in-line with the falls that we have seen in the upper priced brackets.
