Demand will drop but there will be a need. New technologies will be created that make the generation of energy from existing sources more environmentally sustainable. Just remember co2 itself isn’t bad as it’s part of environment, it’s the sustainability of the release from fossil fuels which is the issue. The interaction between the biosphere and geosphere always results in flows of gases and liquids in both directions.
