We are not talking about a memory tech that can plug and play into existing memory classes here - it needs industry standards for system architecture to be adopted, and 4DS doesn't have the industry heft to make those things happen.

Also, once the Mbit chip is done, the gains in production knowhow and commodification of the tech will only happen when saleable chips are being churned out in their millions. 4DS doesn't have the resources for this.

The company could sit on the tech and continue to develop IP for every use case, but realistically there needs to be an operations and revenue stream occurring. Also, the longer they sit on this, the greater the chance of something else springing up that cut's 4DS RERAM's lunch.

When 4DS is purchased, the key tech staff will probably be given golden handcuffs to stay on and keep running the 4DS lab, designing and developing those new products. But the purchaser will be looking to get 4DS RERAM out into the wild and building up customer/industry acceptance to the point they can take on DRAM directly.

When FLASH/SSD memory in computers was introduced - it was hybridised with spinning hard drives - eventually everyone said, "why have the HDD at all?" and it was done away with in favour of cheap reliable SSDs.

Storage Class Memory is in effect a way of hybridising system memory with RERAM. Eventually consumers will say, why do we need SDRAM when RERAM is just as quick and consumes a fraction of the energy, for a fraction of the price?

I get this, but how about entering into ongoing licencing agreements, JVs, etc that derive ongoing revenue for 4DS shareholders rather than all-out sale?

The revenue could support a mix of dividends and continued R&D. The annual profit could end up being greater than the current market cap.
