Cops are likely in a frenzy examining the car for defects. Bad brakes, tires, steering, suspension? Any of the above, and the car owner will likely be blamed - and have to pay compensation for the victims, and compensation of course for the dog who stole the car - his minor injuries and missing the Invasion Day parade.
Seems to work that way for anyone who defends against a home invasion.
