Here’s something interesting. BCC have always been clear in recent presentations they see growth in other products across the range as well as Zoleo.
Well BassPro the worlds largest outdoor retailer who have been selling Zoleo for the last 6 months have JUST NOW listed for sale Irridium Go also. It’s also been Cobranded as “Zoleo irridium Go” which it’s never been before, presumably to tie into the success of Zoleo.
they must be a very happy retailer to expand the BCC range and most of all this is interesting as:
1) A much more expensive device BCC make more money off sales of iridium go and presumably at a higher margin (given the Zoleo strategy is to sell the device cheap for plan revenues)
2) it’s not part of the Zoleo partnership with roadpost where they only get 15% for US sales as it’s an existing BCC product so BCC should get all the money from it. Which means it could be very significant.
3) whilst it costs more than Zoleo for Canada / us out of range outdoors types a single wifi hotspot that does voice / data and apps, as opposed to text messages is a much more complete solution.
given it’s taken them 5 years to sell like 50,000 of the iridium go you have to wonder if it’s had the right major retail distribution presence as opposed to satellite niche shops. Or maybe it’s time has come to step up a gear for BCC also. BassPro clearly think they can sell them.
