Beef is expensive as farmers seek to rebuild herds. If salmon is relatively cheaper we should see some displacement. It wouldn't take much of a shift to really boost salmon volumes.
Your suggestion shorters hopped in on the possibility China would extend the crayfish ban to prawns makes sense. Norway salmon is currently enduring China bans and the communists would be unlikely to embargo Australian salmon at the same time.
