Because with a smart charger that can communicate and be communicated to it is possible to increase and decrease the rate of charge ... now do that across a fleet of EVs where the operators are happy to work on that basis and you’ve got a redirectable diversion point.... of course I’m not talking about the dumb chargers used in homes at present ... I’m talking about the type of technology which would be likely available when the saturation that we are worried about is reached. Now let’s take that further —- what if the cars had V2G or V2H or V2? capability ... now we’ve got an energy storage built into a vehicle that can provide further grid smoothing / controlling. Or further - what if those homes or business where this is happening had solar PV also able to communicate to grid, car, home/business ...
