Finally some competition. Looks like they already have a commercial version released. From their Facebook page:
Craftsmac Laboratories Pvt. Ltd., an Indian construction robotics company launched first of its kind Block Laying Robot for multi-storey buildings, in association with Shapoorji Pallonji Engineering & Construction at SP E&C construction in Kochi, India on 11 September 2020.
With 10X block laying speed capability compared to conventional masonry, the robot eliminates high labour dependency of block laying process. The Masonry Robot builds both internal and external walls of multistorey buildings with various commonly used block types and cement mortar. This autonomous wall construction robot takes care of window and door openings by itself and reduces wall construction to a print job from building drawings. Compact, lightweight and self-transformable, the robot is floor mobile and passes through door openings. With artificial intelligence built into it, the robot brings advanced Industry 4.0 hardware to the construction site with additional data analytics and construction management benefits.
Craftsmac Labs, a deep technology Indian start-up company was founded in 2014 at Kochi, India for R&D in masonry robotics. Alpha version of the Masonry Robot started trials in October 2016. Version 2.1 released for commercial use in Aug 2020 was preceded by 2 versions in 2018 and 2019 that was upgraded after extensive tests and trials. With 6 years of R&D towards development of the Masonry Robot, Craftsmac Labs has developed state-of-the-art construction purpose robotics technologies. With this core robotics asset, solutions for other construction tasks are in the pipeline.
Shapoorji Pallonji Engineering and Construction (SP E&C) with a legacy of more than 150 years is one of the pioneers in the Indian construction and is engaged in sectors like real estate, hospitality, stadiums among others.
