in nature things mutate and in the medical space confidence intervals of 99.99% are too low. synthetic drugs are preferred for purity 99.9999999 and scalability of production.
a lot of the drugs you take are synthetic versions
most drugs that are approved are also single compounds. I guess it's 1 = 1 in the science world that you are trying to find out. as soon as you have 1+2= 3 into the mix I guess the complexity multiplies. there is a recent podcast on compounding med products.
