Really? From what we have been told, and what we saw last time they thought they had arrived at this point, they will be eager to make a big splash in the audio space - the bigger the better in fact. My take is that once they are confident they have the real deal, they will waste no time in showcasing the tech to consumer electronics manufacturers far and wide. To do that they will need to a) have reliable production quality chips that they are totally confident in, b) chips they have explored as many capabilities of as possible, and characterised and measured and turned into performance specifications, and c) a very high level of confidence in their IP protection.

As far as I can understand it, all the secrecy and opaque and hard to follow information has been about keeping their state of progress under wraps so that they can protect the IP as it is developed. I think we need to appreciate that a lot of the IP has emerged only after they have solved problems that have never been encountered by the MEMS industry before. From what they say that is really important stuff, and they hopefully have it fully locked down.

I remember Fred and Danny both saying that when they do the demo's the aim will be to "blow the socks off" the industry. That is what I am looking forward to. I had imagined that AP might have had their eyes on CES 2021 as a place to release their speaker systems. COVID got in the way of that. But all going well I would not be surprised if Jan 2022 might be the show to watch. If AP can roll chips off the production line early enough to provide innovators with commercial chips then CES 2022 might be the place where the first products get seen by the wider market.

I can't wait! But not allowing myself to get too confident quite yet.
