Seriously though, the world is full of despots and if the US and Europe were to intervene in all of them they would be stretched very thinly. Australia would also have to be involved. Want to pay the price?

In a way, though, the US bought it upon itself when it insisted all those years ago that the Europeans give up their Colonies. At least while colonies they were governed well even if some locals disliked being colonized.
