yes it probably is. I say this in jest.
So maybe all the gangs (white collar) need is some plain vanilla short selling via borrowing your familys AZY, Maybe not?
Or maybe they have other hidden 'fake' shares in the bid ask queues (eg CFDs) to manipulate the spread, price and volume, with 2 exchanges to bury their op. But then that would be manipulation. And that's illegal too.
Please excuse my cynicism. I just have no faith in the integrity of the market.
