Loki01, thanks for comments; agree Chinese have been exerting de power lately, but the global boys all play that way.

After being put on by European colonial powers for several centuries, in recent times the Chinese have ‘freed themselves’, this involves regaining old territories. Talk to any person of Chinese descent, they will agree; ‘Taiwan and Tibet are part of China.’

China has now become one of the 3 major global powers; this realignment has taken place whether we like it or not.

Importantly to Australia, apart from the trade aspect, China is right on our doorstep; our areas of interest overlap.
How we develop our relationship with China, interwoven with that of the USA, Japan and also Indonesia – will be vital for Australia’s future peace and prosperity.

At the moment the Libs are playing the China Card mixed with Yellow Peril sauce; and also lets hope nukes don't come into our relationship at any time.
