Why did Microsoft purchase Nokia for $7,200,000,000 (7.2 BILLION) in 2014, only to sell it for $350,000,000 (.35 BILLION) in 2016.
Maybe HP has more money then sense? maybe some director thinks they can take on Apple Airpods and move 100 million units a year. Maybe they wanted a free set of buds?
We could theorize endlessly, but facts are what matter:
AUD 3million is pocket change for HP.
In 2020 they made $2,844,000,000 in profit (approx $2.844 billion more than nuheara)
if they really felt Nuheara was a must have, they could simply snap up the entire company for AUD 75 million. (they spent $54,879,000,000 in 2019, AUD 75mil would be a drop in the bucket)
Rose tinting everything is nice,, but the cold hard facts do not support that story.
Phase one was $1.2m (AUD 1.7m)
Phase two was $1.7m (AUD 2.0m)
If HP makes 25% on the bud sales (199 @ 25% = $49.75) they will recoup their R&D costs once 30,000 buds are sold.
If they make a more generous 50% they only need to sell 15,000 and they recoup 100%.
Considering the 11.5mil institutional investor amount is only enough to produce 230k buds in its entirety, the likelihood of 6 figure sales is not likely in the short to medium term. If you said by 2025,, i wouldn't bet against you. but for this year? ill take your money .
