WS - I generally agree - but if there is a story to tell, and it is useful to illustrate it pictorially, then that it is certainly a useful communication tool .. and a well communicated story certainly contributes to shareholder value ...
not to use the full armoury of communication tools to build sustained shareholder value, just 'cos you're a bunch of geologists, is corporate laziness .. imho
