Endpoint Shmendpoint. PEs are great for downrampers, day traders, lazy journalists and shorters. They’re fine for rubber stamp trials on proven technologies but a 5 year trial on a complex and relatively untested therapy has too many moving parts, as does a 6 month trial in a pandemic that has the WHO asking WTF. Most of us LTHs didn’t invest in the trials, we invest in the therapy. Cell technology is not going away. If MSB doesn’t run with it, someone else will and they will face the same hurdles.
The Mesoblast therapy works, to what capacity is still being determined. If it didn’t, it would’ve been shelved last April, KC Griffin may be dead and more Americans would be on opioids. Unlike the market, the human body is a lousy liar. If 60 day unblinding shows the mortality reduction to be 30% instead of 43%, that’s good enough for my money. To quote from the Talmud, “whoever saves one life saves the world entire”
One can point the finger at SI and the BOD but Mesoblast don’t make mousetraps. Novartis et al know it. It’s eggshells with FDA and Big Pharma. Phar Lap came last in his first race, he only won one of the next nine. Hotcopper posters would’ve sacked the trainer and turned Big Red into a small red tube of Tarzan’s Grip and the world wouldn’t have saluted an Australian legend. Don’t let it happen with MSB.
