selling at the right time is the hardest thing, but is crucial to good investing. This doesn't necessarily mean selling at the last high, as an earlier one can also be fruitful, just as holding until later can prove even better. So which way to go?

Firstly, not losing is more important than winning. If you lose, you're out of the game. So learning to sell when you're ahead is paramount. True, selling higher is optimum, but we never really know where that is, unlike bottoms that can more often be found easier, if you're patient.

I won't mention all the different techniques to selling, but suffice to say, find one that keeps you ahead. Remember that a paper profit is just that; paper. One has to sell to realize real profit.
