yeh, I agree, I think SRN/HIN really just minimises the counterparty risk. if users trust the platform and don't mind the counterparty risk, $0 brokerage does seem attractive. one thing to correct regarding my last post. I think freetrade only charges FX fee on US trades which is 0.45%. but with standard free service they offer limited stocks to trade from.
Freetrade claims that they don't profit from orderflow, so I could only assume they adopt an internal settlement mechanism to minimise transaction cost. otherwise I don't know how they could breakeven from just monthly account fee.
