Your oil analogy is not appropriate because that oil company can't quantify the result at the time they first believed. With PTX there is nothing stopping the company providing preliminary results, and backing it up with longer duration explanation and further results later down the track. But they don't give these preliminary results because of delays..., or more likely, misleading timeline estimates in the first place.
