Bots aren't objectively nefarious, in fact basically every buy and sell by a major institution is done by a computer.

Instos find companies, they do their numbers, the pick what they want to invest, then their on market purchases and sells are done within the framework of the predetermined risk/reward criteria that is programmed into the algorithm controlling the bot.

As an example, a retail investor can have an entry target of 20c into a stock... the stock gets down to to 20.5c from 25c, the investor can just say, "close enough," and buy there. Funds are not afforded that level of risk-taking ability. The bots operate specifically within their predetermined risk parameters and buy in the most optimum fashion.
