Platinum Australia up on Kalplats resource upgrade

Shares in Platinum Australia were higher today after the company announced a 160 per cent increase in the platinum, palladium and gold resource at its Kalahari project in South Africa.
The company said the updated Crater deposit measured, indicated and inferred resource estimate had increased to 26.2 million tonnes at 2.04 grams a tonne platinum, palladium and gold containing 1.72 million ounces.
The revised estimates include results from several holes drilled late last year, which were not included in the previous resource estimate.
The Crater deposit is one of seven deposits which make up the identified mineral resource in the Kalplats project.
Platinum Australia managing director John Lewins said the upgrade increased the total mineral resource at Kalplats to more than 5.2 million ounces platinum, palladium, gold and the high-grade resource to 2.48 million ounces.
He said he expected further upgrades to the resource in future. Platinum Australia shares were up 9.5 cents, or 11.95 per cent, to 89 cents at 12.30pm.
