Swiftboy, for day trading you need high volatility --- ANYTHING which causes stocks to move, is in your favour.
Market hype alla Biota is the stuff you pray for. Since you are not taking long-term positions it matters little if you get out before the hype is over.
I day trade full time, and choose stocks with whose movements I am familiar, which are liquid, and have high intraday volatility.
As long as they are liquid, volume is of no concern to me: JBH and MQG have relatively low volume but highly liquid.
If you are day trading, you trade what the day presents. There are some days where it's best to sit back and wait.
There are other days where it's best to plunge in and trust your judgement to hold overnight before a sell.
Watch your charts, especially fib levels and ma's, and.... good luck. :))
