Not a scientist but as we wait kpax's answer patiently (he's been doing a lot of heavy lifting) PickEm last year, during the time he was writing a bunch of terrific posts on the issues surrounding cancer treatmeht, described MPL as "next gen" mTOR drug; I think the third or fourth since the original discovery in the 1960s but don't quote me.
