targeted: targeted by MSB or visa versa. The point being a long holder, not a shorter/lender to shorter or seller
industry: Biotech/healthcare
investor: fund of some kind. Not an industry participant, eg. any current partners or TO candidates
I reckon the purpose of this move is obvious. Funds are needed at some point. No one likes to go into partnership deals with a weak hand ie 'we are desperate for your money'. Obviously shorters have been partly sweating on a CR to cover themselves with all the flush newly minted shares. So that has been taken away and they will need to buy on market.
Yes, shorters have been playing MSB for a long time but management/BOD have also been dealing with them for a long time. So this is a nice 'check' move.
