A small clarification of the above post. I stated $200,000 for a rad hard 750 processor however while this is correct it needs to be made clear this is US dollars so my memory was correct as to the number but not the currency:"The RAD750 system has a price that is comparable to the RAD6000, the latter of which as of 2002 was listed at US$200,000 (equivalent to $284,292 in 2019). Customer program requirements and quantities, however, greatly affect the final unit costs. The RAD750 is based on the PowerPC 750.Microarchitecture: PowerPC 750Max. CPU clock rate: 110 MHz to 200 MHzInstruction set: PowerPC v.1.1Predecessor: RAD6000"
At base price of $15.00 for an AKD1000 processor Brainchip could replace the copper wires with gold filaments and call it the NASA Gold AKD1000 rad hard edition and still save NASA bag loads of money. The revolutionary nature of AKD1000 is lost on many but hopefully this price differentiation will cause a few to reflect. I am reminded of one of the tech watchers comments posted after the Ai Field Day stating his amazement at how powerful AKD1000 was and of the fact that AKD1000 can power the NaNose with only 5% of its processing power.
The original specs for AKD1000 back in 2018 were for it to be produced with the capability of ganging 1024 together but in 2020 the CEO after being questioned about the released specs stated that at 64 they could not imagine a use case where the processing needs of anyone would exceed this number and so to maintain the low cost nature of AKD1000 they had chosen to go with 64. 64 x $15.00 is $960.00. The Vorago Hardsil process involves providing the Hardsil specs to TSMC and they then manufacture the wafer ready to be cut and packaged each chip being Hardsil protected. I have made the point before under the NASA/DARPA SWaP program they get a lot of bang for their buck switching to a Hardsil AKD1000 or two or three or even 64.
My opinion only DYOR.
