According to Benchmark Mineral Intelligence, a battery supply chain and price reporting company, domestic Chinese cobalt sulphate prices surged by 32% in February from January. Ex-works cobalt sulphate in China (min 20.5% Co) was trading at a healthy premium to metal, assessed at a midpoint just below $13,500 a tonne in February, bringing year to date gains to an eye-watering 56%. Hydroxide prices (min 20%Co) went ballistic with month on month gains of 38.3%, with the feedstock now approaching $47,000 a tonne, the highest since October 2018. QUOTE
