In '08 and '09 Banks leased and sold gold to increase liquidity which temporarily swamped the market and suppressed/caused a nose dive in price- this occurred right when most expected gold to rocket- by '10 the price soared. Could this issue of bank liquidity be resurfacing? I'm not in the know but watched the unfolding with surprise during GFC.
