many people need a combination and growth paying a dividend makes it attractive to many more investors including funds/instos . It hits the radar of infinitely more investors. Commencing a dividend often results in a bigger rerate than decreasing shares on issue. Receiving 10-12% of the companies market cap annually is unheard of , why? because such dividend streams that are sustainable will result in SP appreciation being % yields down.
