@bigfastjohn
Firstly a lot of time and effort has been spent on expensive diamond drilling and re-drilling the same small pods many times, instead of stepping out and trying to find a continuation of the mineralization. (I'm not talking about the metallurgical holes either).
The current 2 deep holes are a perfect example. Both are scheduled to finish just past the depth of the EM conductor, yet IMHO if they thought the mineralization came from deeper down in those locations, both holes would be drilled at least a couple of hundred metres deeper, then run DHEM on them to find possible deeper conductors.
The fact they are not drilling deeper than these holes tends to indicate to me that they are just a couple of more small pods of mineralization, well away from other existing finds.
@Dazedandconfused ... If the drilling was way deeper than they have planned then I would agree with you about testing of the geologic model of a deep source, but they are not. We already know the ultramafic host sequence dips to the NNw so finding more EM conductors and likely pods of mineralization deeper in that direction doesn't by itself 'prove' anything new.
One of the reasons I still hold a small interest is for the drilling of something deep (over 1000m) where the MT/AMT survey shows conductive rock. Also the second announcement on 22/4/20 ....
https://stgm.com.au/uploads/documen...T_Survey_Continues_to_Unlock_Mt_Alexander.pdf
..shows the large conductive body near surface on the 100% owned St George tenement, but they have waited a year to begin soil sampling. How serious are they taking the results from that survey?? That should have been done within months of that MT/AMT survey IMHO, and by now drilling in that area (subject to results of more intensive geophysics undertaken there).
This passage from yesterday's announcement said it all about what is really happening with the current drilling, bold mine..
"“We will also commence a project with CSIRO for sophisticated scientific investigation of the unique Mt Alexander mineralisation. This project could provide important insights into the most prospective areas in the Mt Alexander tenure for further nickel sulphide discoveries.
“In the meantime, we are excited to be drilling two powerful EM conductors that are interpreted to have a massive sulphide source. We look forward to reporting results shortly.”
In short they are just drilling 2 more EM conductors while starting to work on the basis for the hunt for elephants IMHO. It could still take years to find 'an elephant' assuming one exists. St George is very much an exploration company in the early stages of exploration for the prize. Again IMHO all the 'finds' so far are not economic company makers.
