They would initally require a "modest" number of pills for a short pilot study in people. IF successful a larger proof-of-concept study would follow and IF that's successful, a significantly larger set of pivotal trials. The earliest you might see any approval, given this is an existing drug, is very late this year, likely though Q1/2 2022 - but that will require decisive decision making ie, money and commitment to go for it!
There MAYBE a shorter time-frame a) proof of concept trial and then b) if "a" is successful, then pivotal trials....but I don't know if we have the "in man" use of the drug to support this quicker path....the middle of a pandemic they MIGHT be able to sweet-talk regulators though!!!
