Agree on all your points but dont understand "I suppose if the Whyalla and Mini mills were closed it would be an opportunity for importers to increase volume in the BSL range of product. IMO" Whyalla producing billet to feed east coast bar mills so East coast would need to import billet if Whyalla falls...they already do this to test alternative supplies and also for current shortfalls...20ktn just landed Newcastle...so that Australian made steel isnt always Australian made. Beams and columns produced at Whyalla at a rate of approx 25-30ktn per month, this would need to be sourced import...but i doubt our port infrastructure could support And if mini mills closed again import supply not viable in my opinion due to lack of infrastructure at ports etc. So to your comment an opportunity for importers to increase volumes in BSL range i dont understand. BSL have worlds strongest anti-dumping measures against their products so imports very very limited in their range.
