Pablo de Sarasate - Carmen Fantasy, Op. 25
The Carmen Fantasy, Op. 25, by Pablo de Sarasate is a violin fantasy on themes from the opera Carmen by Georges Bizet. A version with piano accompaniment was published in 1882.The Carmen Fantasy is one of Sarasate's most well known works and is often performed in violin competitions. Because of its delicate techniques and sanguineous passion inspired by the opera, it is considered to be one of the most challenging and technically demanding pieces for the violin.The piece contains an adaptation of the Aragonaise, Habanera, an interlude, Seguidilla, and the Gypsy Dance. A performance takes approximately 12 minutes.
Violin : Clara-Jumi Kang
Clara-Jumi Kang (Korean: 강주미, born 10 June 1987 in Mannheim, Germany) is a German classical violinist of South Korean descent. She is known internationally as both a prominent virtuoso violinist and child prodigy, and in 2012 was chosen as one of the one hundred "Most inspiring and influential people of Korea" by a leading Korean newsletter, the Dong-A Times. She had first held and played a violin at the young age of three. It was but a year later that she had become the youngest student to ever enter the Mannheim Musikhochschule, and had there studied under Valery Gradov, also a teacher of famous violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann. When she had turned to be five years of age, she had moved to Lübeck to study under Professor Zakhar Bronchiole. At this same age, she had made her concerto debut with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra.
