my view is any stock needs to be controlled especially before major announcements, this allows for weak hands to be absorbed with buyers picking up a few pips lower 3-5% is pretty good for a quick trade,
by removing the weak hands the stock price will trade up in a controlled way, we then see a massive uplift in price with any positive announcement.
what we got to remember is the time zones, if on open theres no announcement then theres a traders opportunity to play the stock to there benefit further removing weak hands and increasing there position.
