It's the currency I am afraid. As long as people bail out of the USD into AUD and other currencies instead of into gold the whole sector is flat.
Annoying.
Perhaps if you are looking for a place to be when the rally winds down go for companies with a domestic energy exposure - thermal coal rather than oil/coking coal. Or consumer staples. Things that are related to products that are more "gotta ave" rather than "wanna ave"
But the AUD is killing gold at the moment.
