The 5th Annual China Nuclear Energy Congress will be scheduled on May 19th to 20th 2009 at Renaissance Hotel Beijing, China. There will be more than 250 high level participants from the whole world, including Government authority, Nuclear power company, Nuclear power equipment provider.

China greets the high climax for the construction of nuclear power during the 11th Five Year Plan. According to the Mid & Long-Term Nuclear Power Development Program, the units range in capacity will reach 40MWe by 2020. The newly established Bureau of Energy at National Development and Reform Commission has announced that the capacity will increase to 70MWe from that base.
The global upheaval in the real economy will continue to play a major role in the nuclear energy industry throughout 2009, fueling new trends and developments in investment activity. In order to boost economy, a stimulus package estimated at RMB 4 trillion (about US$570 billion) is going to be spent over the next two years to finance programs in 10 major areas. The policy includes a comprehensive offering in alternative energy and nuclear power, which would obtain investment by RMB 800 million.
In China, the booming nuclear power plant construction remains in high zest. The State Council has officially approved the Extension Project of Qinshan NPP Phase II and Guangdong Yangjiang NPP to start up, and more than 10 projects will be launched in 2009. Together with the further development of NPP construction, many technologies are coming out of the stage, such as: the 80MWe demonstration FBR is scheduled to be operated on 30th September in 2009; the first commercial HTR project has been started in Shandong Shidaowan… etc. Herewith, AP1000 technology transfer, EPR project and front-end nuclear fuel cycle technology are to be applied and developed.
This year will welcome the opening of The 5th Annual China Nuclear Energy Congress (2009 CNEC), expectedly a grand gathering for executives of the nuclear energy industry in China and elsewhere around the world. This annual summit themed China's nuclear energy industry has been well received and acclaimed by participants. To satisfy their demand for further communication and co-operations, we organize 2009 CNEC, looking forward to sharing with them the latest development and achievements of the industry and exploring its future prospect. Apart from the keynote topics presented in the previous summit, this year's CNEC will also cover the up-to-date topics and projects. We sincerely wish that all the participants will benefit immensely from the two-day summit.

Rising demand for uranium and the reality of a supply shortfall are finally having an impact on the spot price of yellowcake. The price has been on an uptrend this past month, reaching $51 per pound this past week.

As nations look for ways to keep up with spiking energy needs while lessening their carbon footprint, uranium demand will continue to rise in the long-term.

According to recent estimates by the World Nuclear Association, the number of nuclear reactors is expected to climb 30 per cent by 2020 on demand from developing nations like China and India. The European Nuclear Society says that 44 new plants are currently under construction in 14 countries and the International Atomic Energy Agency estimates that world nuclear capacity could double by 2030.
