    Meanwhile, a largefire destroyed a factory in Sydney’s south-west about 5.30am with gas cylindersexploding and black smoke filling the sky.

    About 150 firefighters and 40 fire trucks are still battling the blaze atJalco Automotive factory in Prestons on Hoxton Park Road.

    Fire and Rescue NSWSuperintendent Scott Dodson said the building contains bulk ethanol, vehiclebrake fluid and hydraulic oil.

    “There’s also LPGcylinders within the building as well that are going off,” he told radiostation 2GB. “So firefighters have a pretty tough job there trying to containthat fire.”

    About 9am, aspokesman said while firefighters had contained the blaze, crews would be onscene all day.

    Local residents wereadvised to keep their windows and doors closed because of the chemicalsburning.

    “It’s a thickerdensity smoke and it’s black,” the spokesman said.

    The road is closedwestbound between Hill Road and Cartwright Avenue, while eastbound traffic isalso affected.

    No evacuations wererequired and no injuries have been reported.
